Cement Calculator
Break a concrete volume into cement, sand and aggregate by mix ratio.
Mixing your own concrete? This calculator splits the required volume into cement, sand and aggregate using your chosen mix ratio (e.g. 1:2:4).
The math behind it
Wet (placed) volume × 1.54 ≈ the dry loose volume of materials needed (they compact when mixed with water).
Split the dry volume by the mix ratio. One 94 lb bag of Portland cement ≈ 1 ft³.
Worked example
10×10×4 in (33.3 ft³ wet) at 1:2:4 → dry 51.3 ft³ → cement ≈ 8 bags, sand 14.7 ft³, aggregate 29.3 ft³.
FAQ
What does 1:2:4 mean?
1 part cement, 2 parts sand, 4 parts coarse aggregate by volume — a common general-purpose mix (~M15).
