Area of a Right Triangle Calculator
Find the area of a right triangle from its two legs.
In a right triangle the two legs are perpendicular, so they act directly as base and height.
The math behind it
area = ½ × leg a × leg b, because the legs meet at 90°. The hypotenuse follows from the Pythagorean theorem.
Worked example
Legs 6 and 8 → area = ½ × 6 × 8 = 24, hypotenuse 10.
FAQ
Do I need the hypotenuse for the area?
No — only the two perpendicular legs are needed.
