Tree Leaves Calculator
Roughly estimate the number of leaves on a tree.
A fun, very rough estimate of leaf count from canopy size.
The math behind it
canopy area = π × (diameter/2)²; leaves ≈ area × leaves per ft². A mature tree has on the order of 200,000 leaves.
Worked example
30 ft canopy → ~198,000 leaves.
FAQ
Accurate?
No — it's an order-of-magnitude estimate; leaf density varies enormously by species.
