The math behind it

GWA = sum of (grade x units) divided by total units. Used widely in Philippine universities (lower can be better).

Grades 1.5/2.0/1.75 with 3/4/3 units gives about 1.78.

Lower or higher is better?

Depends on the school's scale; in many PH schools 1.0 is highest.
